Mercury, known as Hermes to the Greeks, is the god of financial gain, commerce, eloquence, messages, communication (including divination), travelers, boundaries, luck, trickery and thieves; he also serves as the guide of souls to the underworld.
Hermes was known for wearing wing-tipped shoes so that he might accompany the other gods on all of their official business errands. Because of this, Hermes is known for being very savvy and in-the-know.

The archetype of Mercury haa a very bright and cheerful manner, with seeming excess energy that causes them to function faster than other types. Mercurians are flirtatious and mischievous. They are the most cunning of the seven types The arms are always active with the hands, gesturing while talking. Mercury rules the hands, fingers, arms, speech, and sense of hearing.

Mercury is the quickest moving of the planetary types. This is a smooth non-muscular type, although very flexible. Mercurians are the shortest of the seven types, small and compactly built, trim in appearance, tidy looking and with a strong, forceful facial expression.

The forehead is high and bulging, the hair is chestnut or black and inclined to be curly on the ends. The Mercurian grows a beard easily, which covers the face well and is generally a little darker in color than the hair on the top of the head. The chin is long and sharp.

The Mercurial nose is petite and fine, with small and clearly defined nostrils. The tip is upturned slightly, with an elfin look. Ticks and twitches are not uncommon. Generally the nose has a sharp, almost pinched look.

Mercurial hair is very fine and thin, and there is not much of it. Beards and mustaches are kept exceptionally neat and trim. The nails are trim and well-groomed in the same way.

The hands are very prominent in the Mercury Type; in fact you can tell many a Gemini by their prominent hands and forearms.

Mercurians are very sociable and usually prefer to marry people of their same archetype and age, for who else could keep up with them other than another Mercurian? This type likes to marry early in life. Mercurians love to travel, for changing their scenery gives them the recreation and variety they need.

Mercury deeply values family and close relationships, for this reason they are least likely to divorce of all the archetypes and usually stay married for life.

In all games they are proficient, and play with their heads as well as their hands, winning because they plan their plays and shrewdly estimate the ability of their opponent. In all athletic sports where dexterity and skill, rather than brute strength are needed, Mercury is the victor.
