In Traditional Palm Reading the lines of the hands show a tremendous amount of information about the person, including their preferences and basic character. The Heart Line is the first of the major lines to ignite with energy produced by the finger of Jupiter. The Heart Line, thus, flows with energy from the Mount of Jupiter towards the Mount of Mercury on the percussive side of the hand.
The Line of The Heart is said to represent the native’s basic emotional disposition (generous, withheld, fickle etc.) as well as important years in matters of the heart (relationships, life-path changes, etc.) based on a specific interpretation for timing.
There are basically four main Heart Line formations, which will be covered below.
1. The EXTENDED Heart Line
The Extended Heart Line literally extends into the Mount of Jupiter, oftentimes also curving between the middle and pointer fingers
Natives with this feature tend to give of themselves freely– and often too much! I always remind people who have this to make sure their cup is full before filling someone else’s. There could be a desire to establish more comfortability around setting boundaries.

2. The RESTRICTED Heart Line.
The Restricted Heart Line appears short, as if it starts under the middle finger. Usually, this line is also low-set in the hand. There may be faint marks of a Heart Line in the beginning, but it doesn’t appear to get “dark” until around the middle finger.
Natives with this Heart Line are usually late-bloomers. They enjoy a lot of alone time and frequently marry after they are mature adults. In readings, I encourage the person to cultivate a sense of emotional vulnerability and nurture their relationships.

3. The CURVED Heart Line
A Curved Heart Line starts near the webbing between the pointer and middle finger, flowing towards the pinky finger. Very often a Curved Heart line will also have a little branch going out toward’s the Mount of Jupiter (but if it’s a very long branch you would classify it as both, Extended and Curved.
Natives with a Curved Heart Line love to be in a couple– frequently they will even bring a pal to their palm reading! These people tend to spend much of their lives in a relationship. The person usually agrees with me when I say, “If you’re not in a relationship, you go everywhere with your very best friend.”

4. The SIMIAN Line
The Simian Line is included because it is actually made up of a merging of the Heart and Head Lines, which deserves it’s own category but is still made of the Heart Line nonetheless.
People with a Simian Line are very determined individuals. Because the channels of Heart and Head run together, they are doubly strong! People with a Simian Line are usually described as intense, driven, and exceptionally smart.

There are many possible formations of the Heart Line in palmistry, but the four most common are Extended, Restricted, Curved and Simian.
